About the Author
Jacquie D'Alessandro grew up on Long Island and fell in love with romance at an early age. She dreamed of being swept away by a dashing rogue riding a spirited stallion. When her hero finally showed up, he was dressed in jeans and driving a Volkswagen, but she recognized him anyway. They married after they both graduated from Hofstra University, and are now living their happily-ever-after in Atlanta, Georgia, along with their very bright and active eight-year-old son, who is a dashing rogue in the making. Red Roses Mean Love is Jacquie's first book. She is currently working on her next historical romance for Dell.

I wanted to love this book...

I love Jacquie D Alessandro's books, after all the whole point of a romance novel is to read a love story. This story had such beautiful potential. But a very necessary component for this particular novels plot was the Heros perceptive transition. Just when I thought it was going to happen... It didn't and then he left her! Now I'm waiting for him to go back to her but she chases after him and he berated her for it!
It's just such a huge turn off and I was hugely disappointed because despite the larger number of characters they were well developed and they all served a purpose. The ending was good but just didn't make up for the latter.

Couldn't Put It Down!

This book, for me, is almost the "perfect romance". I loved every moment spent reading this one, and read every spare moment I had until it was finished....it took me 1 day.

The thing I loved about this book was the attention that D'Allessandro gives to her characters. There was a whole host of characters in this book, but this author makes each individual so compelling and unique that you begin to care for each and every one of them...something that is really hard to do!

I loved Hayley. She is the type of woman that I wish I could be more like. Selfless, caring, honest, down to earth, creative, and intelligent....(and completely humble!). I almost thought that the author made her "to good to be true" until a few scenes where her temper arises and she "stands up" to the sometimes arrogant Stephen.

I also loved Stephen. He was arrogant and said and did hurtful things to Hayley, but he also was quick to say "I'm Sorry!" I love a man who isn't so prideful to admit when he's wrong. The captivating part of this book is watching Stephen become a part of "a family" for the first time. He is unused to all the commotion and messiness that a household of kids brings with it, but slowly he begins to long for all that this family represents...unconditional love, acceptance, support, and loyalty. As he starts to open himself up and experience some emotions for the first time....I was moved to tears....wonderful stuff.

The scenes between Stephen and the boys and even more so with Callie are some of the sweetest scenes in the book. How an arrogant marquess becomes a man so in tuned with a 6 year old girl that he's engaging in tea parties and fixing her precious doll is truly heartwarming. Buy this book...you'll want to read it again and again!

WENT DOWNHILL FAST---

I started off really liking this book and its hero/heroine , but by the end I sadly despised all three. The hero had been shown very little love in his life and someone was trying to kill him (he didn't have much to work with) but instead of overcoming his difficulties he remained selfish, self-centered, and unbelievably wishy-washy. He went from showing extreme kindness to bitter coldness in the blink of an eye--Over and Over and Over Again. That is, when he wasn't selfishly trying to drink his deficiencies away instead of facing them. (You just knew he would continue that pattern for the rest of his life.) I lost my respect for the heroine when she kept putting up with it.

There was also WAY too much of the hero/heroine's repetitive self ponderings weighing the story down. The villain was too obvious early on (taking the mystery away) and the attempts on his life became silly. The humor was few and much lighter than I was told to expect and the ending wasn't so much rushed as it was simply cut off in mid thought. I realize this was the author's first book (and she did create some really wonderful secondary characters,) but I was left with such a down-feeling that I'm not sure I'm up to another try.

I already read it. Even better and more complete than I thought. This is a full overview about each and every instrument employed during the so-called 'Dark Ages'. What one sees is gaiety and merriment, besides learning about such nowadays unknown names as gemshorn, tromba marina, crwth, and others. To be perused over and over again.

More than a primer. Almost a memento even for the seasoned pro. A must for anyone using, venturing or even contemplating an IP-based Surveillance system that would include even Access Control.
A must have, only wish it was updated to account for advances in Networking with 10 G Ethernet becoming commonplace in 2014... With 40 G at the corner. Else an excellent book.

This work complements the author's valuable Encyclopedia of Modern American Extremists and Extremist Groups (Greenwood, 2002). Focusing on post-1945, with 85 percent of the information coming from the period since 1980, the 285 entries encompass people and organizations on every continent, many not widely known, such as the neo-Nazi Australian Civil Liberties Union. Yasir Arafat is given one and one-half pages and Osama Bin Laden three and one-half pages. Among other entries are Holocaust denial; Irish Republican Army; Pot, Pol; Reid, Richard; Sandinista National Liberation Front; and September 11.

The arrangement is alphabetical, with see and see also references and suggested readings leading the reader further. The information is accurate, clearly written, and relatively current (for example, there is coverage of the subway bombing in Moscow in February 2004. It is also objective and balanced, as in the discussion of the effect of the intifada on Palestinian society.

The list of entries, the 10-page chronology, photos, an extensive bibliography, and an index enhance the value of the work. There is some overlap with The Encyclopedia of World Terrorism: 1996-2002 (Sharpe, 2003), which continues an earlier large work and includes useful documents in volume 2. Encyclopedia of Terrorism (Facts On File, 2002) is an accessible resource for secondary-school and public libraries, but the title under review will be useful for a broader audience, including academic libraries. About the Author
Former Director of the Applied Ethics Program at St. Petersburg College, Mr. Goree taught professional ethics and ethics education at conferences and workshops for teachers, school administrators, law enforcement officers, and other professional groups throughout the country. In 1997, the Florida Association of Community Colleges named Mr. Goree as a semi-finalist for the Florida Professor of the Year Award. He was also awarded the Carol Burnett Award for Ethics in Journalism. In September 2005, Mr. Goree was named National Community College Faculty Member of the Year by the Association of Community College Trustees.

Almost useless.

In pursuit of a Bachelors of Information Technology, Network Administration concentration, I am currently working on my Associates of Arts in Business Administration, Information Systems concentration and, through the university, received an electronic copy of this book as part of the course materials for my second class, Business Ethics (BUS207). Like most college students, we have to write APA-format papers for our assignments. This is good, because it teaches us to support findings with citations of research that helps reinforce a point being made in the paper. This also helps in reading other material because this habit leads the reader to look for similar citations of research to support the claims of the author. In my last text book, there were plenty of footnotes to explain from where the facts came. Concepts to the reader unfamiliar with the subject were properly introduced and fully explained. I can say that in the case of this book, neither of these were the case. For example, in one of my units, we are discussing bribery and the word 'bribe' only appears one time in the entire book. Many statistics are given without citing who did the research, how they did it, with whom, or when (such as the statistic that up to 7 hours per week on the clock are used by employees not doing anything productive). We have no reason to doubt Mr. Goree, but this example is not given in an empirical way such that the underlying premise is not easily challenged. This book is filled with useless worksheet pages instead of an in-depth discussion that elaborates on many of the broad generalizations made in the book. Many issues are not discussed from an International viewpoint (i.e., affirmative action, or so-called "reverse discrimination"). The biggest issue with this book are that too many subjective viewpoints are presented as universal truths. Many of the axioms presented in this book are easily questioned under light duress. Your school may tell you to rely on this book for writing and turning in papers, but I'm warning you to please use your library and work with other books to make stronger cases in your papers about workplace ethics. This book will leave you coming up short.

Totally Useless

The book is far below the expected level of expertise for a college level textbook. A major online university has selected this book for an undergrad Ethics class and it has been a disaster for the students. The text contains no relevant research, no explanation of ethics, theories or principles; only very broad and easily misinterpreted 2-3 sentence statements. The book is filled with useless cases and exercises that provide no value to the student. I am not sure of the intended audience for the book but it is definitely not for university use.
