Pulse Pounding , Passionate, Second Chance Love--A Must Read!

In the second story in the (X-Ops #2) series, FBI special agent Danica Beckett is back in Clayne Buchanan’s life. She had to walk away from him before, to save his life and keep him safe. Now they are partnered again to catch a killer and the heat, and the intensity of passion is still there.
Danica and Clayne come to realize that the killer isn’t human and that they are in a race against time to get to the killer before he kills again because he is a serial killer & to keep the FBI from realizing the killer is not human.
Clayne and Danica start out fighting the attraction against each other because of what happened in the past( where Danica was blackmailed to leave the bureau and Clayne) but by the end of the book we get to find out why Dancia was made to leave Clayne , why Clayne was so heartless toward Danica in the beginning and how everything changes for them by the end. Their romance positively explodes on the pages ; there is also a side story involving the hero and heroine from book one so keep your eyes out for that.
There are twists and turns that I did not see coming when reading this book . There is non- stop action and heart pounding moments that will leave you sweaty. This book will grip you and leave you wanting more. At the end of the book, there will be some questions remaining involving the DCO which , I believe, sets up book #3. All in all, fantastic book written by Ms. Tyler.

Fun, passionate and exciting

Discovering a new to you author who’s writing style suits your reading style is something I never get tired of.
Two years ago FBI Special Agent Danica Beckett was forced to break the heart of the man she loved in order to save his life. Now she’s being forced to work with shifter Clayne Buchanan again in order to catch a serial killer. What starts off as a tense situation filled with bitterness and regrets turns into a second chance romance once Clayne finds out why Danica walked out on him.
Her Lone Wolf is the first book I’ve ever read by Paige Tyler and boy oh boy did I have fun with this one. For starters, Clayne and Danica worked so well together as a team! Clayne never discredited Danica’s ideas or skills because she was a woman and Danica never stepped back and let him run the show just because he was a man. They played so well off one another that it was hard to remember that their personal relationship ended badly. Speaking of their personal relationship, these two never had a problem in the chemistry department. Even after spending time apart, it was clear that there was still much more than just a spark. What made their story better in my opinion was that Danica already knew that Clayne was a shifter so it didn’t feel like Clayne had too much on his plate with the murder cases, his feelings for Danica while still having to keep his secret from her.
Aside from the romance there’s a great murder/suspense story. When I say great I mean because it had some unpredictability. Sure, Clayne and Danica know what kind of killer they’re looking for but what they don’t anticipate is going up against a very clever killer who treats his kills as a game. It was a real challenge for them and it said something about the killer that it took two people plus an entire police force to try and catch him. There were plenty of scenes that showcased what a great team Clayne and Danica made as well as the suspense that comes with knowing that they were getting closer and closer to their killer.
Though it’s the second book in a series, it can be read as a stand alone. There are a few scenes involving a previous couple but that only made me more curious about their story and what happened to them that it had to be brought into Her Lone Wolf as a side story/continuing arc. Another thing I enjoyed about this story is that it’s light on the paranormal aspect. It’s not that I don’t love a die hard paranormal romance but sometimes I crave one that doesn't have too much going on. This one is perfect because while Clayne is a shifter, I didn’t feel thrown into a topsy turvy paranormal world that was too complicated.
Author Paige Tyler did a great job in hooking me with the plot but it was what came after those first few pages that made me add this author to my “Watch” list. Her Lone Wolf combined
Final Verdict: I really want to read the first book to prepare for the third. I loved Her Lone Wolf that much!

What an intense read

Her Lone Wolf Book #2 (X-ops series) Paige Tyler
Be prepared for a lot of action, tension and romance with this read. I loved her first book to this series and this one did not disappoint.
Danica Beckett, Special Agent with the FBI once was a Field Agent with DCO, but when she was being blackmailed to leave DCO and break it off with the love of her life, she had no choice in the matter. She did it for him, for his life and it broke her to pieces. She knew she had to be brutal otherwise he would see right through her.
Clayne Buchanan was recruited into the DCO after being arrested for murdering 3 men. What you didn’t learn until later is why he killed them. Clayne honestly in my opinion was really not a bad guy, he just had a volatile temper, but when partnered up with Danica they seemed to work. She calmed him, he trusted her, enough to tear down those gates. Their chemistry was spot on and when they finally give in oh did it work.
So after two years apart both with totally shattered hearts they were thrown together on a case and you can only imagine the animosity. Clayne did not need the woman who he loved and would give everything to back in his life after she dealt that devastating blow to his heart and soul. The emotions ran high and the feelings where even higher but neither could go with their baser instincts. They were both on a case trying to track down a shifter serial killer. But one important thing they couldn’t let their counter parts know what they were dealing with and it was only Clayne that could take him down. When Danica’s partner Tony’s wife was abducted by this sicko the stress level in this read goes up 10 notches. I was holding my breath the entire time and didn’t even realize it.
There were two points of major action in this read, the serial killer and the ever on going quest to find two doctors trying to create hybrid shifters using Lil’s DNA. This is what I can assume the pretense of the series is with some delish side action.
Paige blindsided me twice in this read and man was I floored. I still don’t want to believe their boss John is truly, knowingly involved with the hybrids. I hope I’ve piqued your interest to pick this read up and go on the emotional rollercoaster I was on. If you haven’t had the opportunity to read her first book of the X-ops series “Her Perfect Mate” do it now before reading this one. You will not be disappointed trust me. I’m so looking forward to her novella “Her Secret Agent” scheduled to release December 2, 2014 and the her next novel “Her Wild Hero” Book #3 to release next may. Only problem is I don’t want to wait that long.
