Really Good Book

If you're experienced with Adsense and blogging this may not appeal to you but I'm not experienced and I really liked the book. I read it in a few hours. Was so helpful and funny I kept trying to put it down and go to sleep because it's late. Had techniques and info I didn't know about SEO and some really great resources too. I actually took notes. I like his writing style. Reads more like a conversation.

Well it's 1:03 am. Gotta get some sleep now.

Abysmally poor

If I could give the book a negative rating I would.
It is probably the worst book on the subject that I have ever read. The authors make huge leaps of logic (and I don't feel inclined to spend time elaborating simply because it is not worth it) and make unfounded assumptions linking kundalini, kabbalah, shamanism, rehashed Zacheria Sitchin material, Rosicrucian concepts, near-death experiences etc, etc, in spurious links to their 'shining ones'. I got the impression that they were pandering to a 'new-age' market and that the idea was conceived simply to sell a book.
Don't buy the book. If the kind of concept the book purports to deal with interests you, read "The Monkey and the Tetrahedron" by David M Jinks

The Chakras

This is a very interesting book with a strong message... it seems to insist on development via the chakras, which may not be everybody's cup of tea. Be that as it may, I found it an interesting read. More info on the shining ones also in Graham Hancock's latest book.

The physical book itself is very nice and well made with a fascinating cover image. The inside front and back covers are entirely black which further ads to the mystery.
While the subtitle of this book promises to reveal "the world's most powerful secret society", surprisingly, less than 20 pages of this book deal with the present-day power players. The majority of this book deals with history, prehistory, and myth covering Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Palestine. However, the individuals that are the Shining Ones neither form a society nor do they act in secret or are unknown. One would be inclined to think that the authors will reveal some secret group one has never heard of or will shed light on some of the better known secret societies and unmask them as the most powerful one. But none of this happens. Near the end of the book the authors do single out one group as being particularly powerful and I was surprised at their choice because it doesn't come up anywhere else in the book. But it is also somewhat of an obvious and bad choice really, as that particular group continues to lose power and members over time. Morover, once identified, the authors don't spend more than a small paragraph mentioning it. But the present is only a concern as symbols remaining of the Shining Ones's activity in the past.
As with all these type of works, connections are made too easily and too quickly, which is a problem here since the authors emphasize events that took place and characters that may or may not have lived millennia ago. Recurring themes are shamanism, kundalini, and altered states of consciousness. So any mention in history of light, serpents, wisdom is taken to be evidence of the Shining Ones.
The writing style is utterly boring. Perhaps this is due to intellectual honesty that the authors know that they're standing on shaky ground that they can't get themselves to be more enthusiastic about the issue, but if they have a thesis and they think that they can provide some reasons for it, they might as well just run with it.
The worst is the lack of scholarship. Things start off problematally from the beginning. Early on there's a quotation from the Bagavat Gita referring to the Shining Ones. However, if you were to pick up the BG, you wouldn't find such a quotation where the authors claim it is. Unless, their translation is so utterly different from the more accepted translations. There are far too many Internet sources of dubious origin. On top of that the authors frequently fail to cite their sources. It's not uncommon to read things like "...it is said by some that..." or "...as many believe..." etc. we never find out who it is that is making these claims.
I can't recommend this book for anyone other than someone starting to be interested in mysterious aspects of the ancients and even then, there are better works out there.

Pieter Jan Kuijper, Professor of the Law of International Organizations, University of Amsterdam,Jan Wouters, Jean Monnet Chair EU and Global Governance, University of Leuven,Frank Hoffmeister, Head of Unit at DG Trade of the European Commission and Professor of Law at the Free University of Brussels, ,Geert De Baere, Assistant Professor of International Law and EU Law, Institute for European Law and Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies, University of Leuven,Thomas Ramopoulos, European Commission; Research Fellow, Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies,

Pieter Jan Kuijper returned in September 2007 to the University of Amsterdam as Professor of the Law of International Organizations after more than twenty years in the service of the European Commission, latterly as Principal Legal Advisor and Director of the External Relations and Trade Law team of the Commission Legal Service. He has also been director of the Legal Affairs Division of the WTO Secretariat (1999-2002). During his years as practitioner of international law he has continued to teach, inter alia at the University of Amsterdam and at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles. His publications have concentrated on Community law, WTO law, and general international law and the relationship between them. He is a member of several professional societies and of the Board of Editors and Advisory Board of different international and Community law reviews.

Jan Wouters is Professor of International Law and International Organizations, Jean Monnet Chair Ad Personam EU and Global Governance, and founding Director of the Institute for International Law and of the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies, an interdisciplinary centre of excellence, at the University of Leuven (KU Leuven). As Visiting Professor at Sciences Po (Paris), Luiss University (Rome), and the College of Europe (Bruges) he teaches EU external relations law. He is a Member of the Royal Academy of Belgium for Sciences and Arts, is President of the United Nations Association Flanders Belgium, and practises law as Of Counsel at Linklaters, Brussels. He is Editor of the International Encyclopedia of Intergovernmental Organizations, Deputy Director of the Revue Belge de Droit International and an editorial board member in ten international journals.

Frank Hoffmeister studied law in Frankfurt, Geneva and Heidelberg (1989-1994) and received a PhD. at the Max-Planck-Institute for Foreign Public Law and International Law (1998). Between 1998 and 2001 he researched and taught as University Assistant at the Walter Hallstein-Institute for European Constitutional Law at the Humboldt-University in Berlin. He then entered the European Commission, first as Cyprus desk at DG Enlargement and afterwards as a member of the Legal Service, where he specialised on international law and WTO issues. In 2010, he became the Deputy Head of Cabinet of EU Trade Commissioner De Gucht, and as of 2010 he is Head of Unit dealing with anti-dumping at DG Trade. Besides, Frank teaches international economic law at the Free University University of Brussels and has published numerous articles on European and international law topics.

Geert De Baere is Associate Professor of International Law and EU Law at the Institute for European Law and the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies at the University of Leuven. He studied law at the University of Antwerp (Cand. Iuris, 1999 and Lic. Iuris, 2002) and at King's College, Cambridge (LL.M, 2003 and PhD, 2007). In 2005, he was a visiting research fellow at Columbia Law School's European Legal Studies Center, New York City. From 2007 to 2009, he worked as a referendaire in the chambers of Advocate General Sharpston at the Court of Justice of the EU, while being a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Antwerp.

Thomas Ramopoulos works as an official at the European Commission. He studied law (Hons) at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and further completed a Master of Philosophy in International Relations at the University of Cambridge. He has been a researcher at the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies of the University of Leuven since 2011.

Great book, a must have.

I bought this one in Spanish for my niece, we all have our own copy, in English, at home, and we all check it out once in a while. If you want to fight procrastination, this is a MUST-HAVE. Steven keeps you interested and for this kind of book, that shows what kind of a great writer he is. Give this book to anyone you love and appreciate, even if they don't procrastinate, it is one of those books that you will take with you wherever you go, to make sure that you have a backup to get you going again if you take an extended vacation from your goals.

No es una novela pero sí relata una "batalla épica", la lucha entre nuestros más altos propósitos y lo que él denomina "la resistencia", aquello que se manifestará en todas las formas posibles para interponerse entre tu estado de miseria actual y tu objetivo final, la felicidad o paz como consecución de un proyecto cuya raíz está en lo más alto e interno de nosotros. Con su lenguaje directo y ameno se lee más como una charla con un buen amigo (que te está diciendo unos consejos demoledores pero necesarios de escuchar) que como un pedante ensaño sobre la psicología humana. Muy recomendable !!!!

Confusing at times, mainly one long space battle

Not as good as previous volumes in my opinion, this volume deals mainly with a long space battle, the causes of which are not totally clear. Lots of colour and fighting removes a lot of the person-to-person (being to being!) inter-action which is a shame. However the story is still entertaining and worth a look, especially if you've read the previous volumes.

The best thing about this volume is that it looks as if it's the end of the series, not that I have anything against the series beyond my criticisms above but it doesn't drag on forever as the Invincible series has been.
